The Aliens of the Delta Quadrant

This section presents information about alien civilizations, living in the Delta Quadrant of our galaxy.

Civilizations in the Delta Quadrant:

Borg: Their home world is somewhere in the Delta Quadrant. The Borg are known from ST:TNG but they didn't appear in the first season of Voyager. The first concrete hint of Borg presence was given in Unity an epsiode in the third season. The Borg made their main appearance in the third to fourth season cliffhanger Scorpion, where they are fighting a war against a powerful race they call Species 8472. More info about the Borg can be found at:
The Borg (subpage of the Star Trek Universe Companion)
A Borg Home Page

Kazon: The main enemies of Voyager (Caretaker, State of Flux, Initiations, Maneuvers,Alliances).
They are a race of warriors, split into many sects. Each sect is headed by a Maje. The number of sects changes `almost every day'. In Initiations (stardate 49005.3) it is mentioned that there are 18 sects in total. The Kazon gained independence about 26 years ago (probably that was the time when Jal Sankur united the Kazon sects). From their hatred towards uniform-bearing individuals as on Voyager one might conclude that they have been surpressed by a race with a similar military system as we know it from the Federation (perhaps the Trabe?). They don't have transporter technology.

The most powerful sects are the Kazon-Ogla (Caretaker; First Maje Jal Razik) and the Kazon-Relora (Maneuvers; First Maje Jal Haron). The Kazon-Nistrim (with Seska; First Maje Jal Culluh) are a rather small sect that hopes to gain power by using Voyager's technology. Other sects mentioned in Maneuvers are the Kazon-Hobii [sp?] (First Maje Jal Lorah), the Kazon-Mostral (First Maje Jal Surat) and the Kazon-Oglamar (First Maje Jal Valek). The Kazon-Pommar (First Maje Jal Mennis) are in control of the planet Sobras. The Kazon-Sari have been mentioned but not shown.

Trabe: The Trabe (Alliances) had enslaved the Kazons for a long time on the Trabe's homeworld. They were a powerful economic force in the area and none of their trading partners wanted to speak out against the harsh conditions of the Kazon holding areas, lest economic sanctions be imposed. Over 30 years ago, the Kazons revolted against the Trabe and sought to punish all of their species.

Ocampa: Kes's race. It was previously protected by the Caretaker (he thought that he had to pay a debt to them);
The Vidiian Sodality: The race being haunted by the phage virus (Phage, Faces). It has highly developed medical skills but overall technology is about an even match with that of the Federation (in ``The Phage'' it is shown that both starships have obtain the same maximal speed).
Sikarians: The main race in Prime Factors. It is technologically far advanced. By using a space folding technology it is possible to travel instantenously over up to 40000 light years. They refuse to help Voyager based on their version of a `Prime Directive'.

Baneans: Only appear in Ex Post Facto. They are at war with the Numiri
Uhnori: The main race in Emanations. It is not advanced (non-space travelling).
???: The main race in Time and Again (non-space-travelling); destroyed itself (by the use of polaric energy) in an alternate timeline.

Talax: Neelix's race (also appeared in Faces). This race's background is elaborated in Jetrel. It has been defeated by the Haakonians around 2356.

Haakon: They have once been at war with the Talaxians (Jetrel). A new weapon (the `Metrion Cascade') was used to destroy Rynax, a moon (with colonies) of the Talaxian home planet. After this the Talaxians surrendered.

Briori: An alien race which abducted more than 300 people from Earth in 1937 and brought them to this planet as slaves ("37's"). The race itself has never been shown but only talked about.

Pralor: A race that built highly advanced robots to fight a war against the Cravic. After ending the war the robots `terminated' their Builders (Prototype). Although they are sentinent beings, they can't reproduce and they are still fighting a war against the robots of the Cravic. They seem to be technologically far more advanced than Voyager.

Cravic: see Pralor. Also extinguished.

Aquitarians: A race with a rather authoritarian form of government. In Chute they showed a very limited willingness to settle differences with Voyager peacefully. This might hint at a more general xenophobic attitude. In fights with Voyager they didn't seriously damage the vessel, so it seems that their weapons systems are inferior to those of the Federation. The existence of a group of freedom fighters, the Open Sky movement, clearly shows that part of the population feels oppressed by the current government.

Krenim: A civilization with sophisticated temporal technology (in Year Year of Hell). See also the Krenim page
