History of the Legion

Summary

The Legion has it's origins in the annals of Earth's history.  In 1831, King Louie Phillipe of France established the French Foreign Legion, a branch of the French Army composed solely of expatriate - refugees.  Upone enlistment, individuals were granted annoymnity and a new beginning, not always a good thing. The Legion was also a safe haven for French criminals and other unsavory elements. Between 1831 - 1961 more than 600,000 individuals are said to have served in the Legion. Historically, the original Legion did not accept, at least not officially, women. Over time that prohibition relaxed and women became part of the service. As years turned into centuries and centuries evolved, so too did the Legion - Until, 2401, it came out of the muddy shadows of existence to become the roots of the Imperial Xeno Legion, monitored for several years by the Klingon High Council as part of a peace treaty in 2401 that brought an end to Romulan, Federation and Klingon hostilities. Eventually, the Legion would be bounced a bit between the Empire, the Romulan Star Empire and the Klingons until at last being granted Independent status, answerable to its own governance and guided by former Starfleet Commander, Admiral Ian Korin.

The Beginnings. . . .

A past Bergen Awardee (SD 239905), the Whitestar is considered primarily a ship of exploration, but has seen her share of conflict, and has partipated in some of the major events of UCIP history (Defense of Vulcan, Defense of Deep Space Orion, Insurrection, the Omega War) and has sought to be more than just a ship of Starfleet (as demostrated in the defense of Qo'nos during the Omega War). While not a particapant of the Last SF/KDF/RSR war, the Whitestar played a critical role....as a condition of peace and demostration of honor, the Whitestar was transferred from Starfleet to KDF to serve as the Flagship and command of the KDF Imperial Xeno Legion (the non-Klingon KDF subfleet). It was during the period of negotations, when Korin was serving as the SF Liason to Peace Talks, that the Whitestar, after the first refit since launch, was sent to the Oc-tinic Nebula to locate an unknown alien ship which appeared from a temporal vortex and entered the nebula.  The renegade Commodore Kotami assumed command of the Whitestar with an agenda of his own, with the support of three Akira-class ships. In the end, it was the crew of the Whitestar, and the remaining 21st Century crew and an ancient sentient ship that foiled Kotami.  Currently, the Whitestar is trapped in Subspace after sealing a spacial rift in Klingon space, discovered while enroute to Qo'nos.

The USS Whitestar was transferred into the Klingon Empire in 2000/2001 as part  of the treaty agreement to end the war between the Federation, Klingon, and RSR. The ship is the flagship of the Xeno Legion - a legion of ships that patrols the sectors nearest the Federation to lessen the chance of a KE / Federation mishap that could inevitably reignite tensions. The Legion is comprised of NON STARFLEET and NON KLINGON Ships - Gorn, Hydran, Kzin, Orion, Ferengii - there are a few assigned Klingons on some IXL ships to maintain contact with the High Council. The Xeno Legion answers ONLY to the High Council and to no other military leader in the Empire. The Legion uses Legion class ships with the exception of the Whitestar which is Legacy class. The Legion also has the SSS Duj Roj, which was a joint venture b/w SF and the KE. When the CO resigned, he returned the B'Rel class ship to the empire. The Magellan class Whitestar was destroyed in a Super Nova in 2003 and replaced by the Legacy Class vessel.

SD 240106.21 - Final Showdown between Commodore Kotami and Colonel Boyington (CO of the Guardian Angel - a ship from 2015) over control of the Guardian and access to the portals.

Kotami is subdued, and the true nature of Guardian Angel (a sentient life form) is revealed to the Whitestar crew, and Colonel Boyington.  With Angel being still held in the tractor beam by the Whitestar, she is able to cloak both ships, then fold space around the ships, escaping the barrage from Kotami's man in charge of the Sabre-class ships...Dredd.  The Whitestar is transported to the far side of Federation space, near the Tholian border.  A message is finally recieved from SF COM for the Whitestar to cease its current mission, regardless if the unknown were found and head for SB24.

SD 240106.26 - The ship and crew are formally reassigned to Legion Command. Officers were given a choice to transfer to a Starfleet vessel or stay for the ships new mission.

SD 240108.XX After three days liberty on SB Versailles, the Whitestar departs for the last leg of it's journey towards Qo'Nos. Enroute, they encounter a subspace distortion - a hole punched through normal space. . . as only the OMEGA can do. An old foe rears its ugly head and there is only one way to seal the hole and prevent further disruption of normal space. It has to be closed from the other side.  The results of a SF Experiment several years earlier had yielded a 'gel', a new lifeform of it's own. The Gel was able to communicate with the Angel and as a result, the Whitestar learned that there are natural exits from subspace to normal space. The crew learns that once an exit is utilized, it closes...unusable for a period of 40 years and with that, Korin and his crew enter the subspace rift, intent on closing it from the other side and not knowing if they would be able to find a way back. Entry into the rift leaves the ship blind - with the fighters their only eyes. It takes them several days and it costs the ship much damage to stitch the rift and allow physics to do the rest.

240109.XX  It is decided to utilize both the primary and secondary deflector dishes to force the rift to close, sewing the spacial wound so that it may heal in a normal fashion. The ship's counsellor senses a large gathering of ships outside the range of the 'Star's severly handicapped sensors. A power surge is detected in Main Medical. Successful closure of the rift was accomplished, with the Whitestar still in subspace.

240110.XX - Repairs are underway and the ship is far from battle ready but at the same time, able to take care of its own. The phantom fighters are deployed as are SCI whiskers. A large structure, heavily shield and with multiple targets surrounding it. With sensors down and subpace interference, the 'Star and its crew are flying somewhat blindly to a great unknown. Little do they know that time is about to come full circle. Back on SB 16, Colonel Zachary Boyington is staring uncomfortably into a space that is his and yet not. He is a man out of time, in the wrong time. He'd been unsettled since he and the Guardian Angel had been assigned here. Her repairs were almost complete and SF Engineers were none the wiser thanks to Angel's adept ability at keeping them out.  It is while here that he and the Angel learn of the Whitestar's journey into the rift. It didn't take them long to get underway. While the 'Star is trying to figure out what is in front of them, Colonel Boyington and the Guardian  Angel are enroute to the 'Star's last known location with a plan in mind to fold space and free the 'Star.  Meanwhile the Star discovers that targets are all derelict ships - a graveyard of sorts. An away team is put together to scavage the ships for parts the 'Star can use to repair itself.

240111.xx - The crew are beginning to feel the effects of being in subspace for too long. It isn't looking good for them. First signs of the inhabitants of this subspace voice - the OMEGAN under the leadership of a someone familiar with the Whitestar and the Federation. The Whitstart is attacked by a Manta class OMEGAN vessel and the Guardian Angel arrives in the nick of time.

240112.xx Senior staff meeting. Repair pace has quickened due to salvaged parts.A naturally occurring portal is located by Angel on the far side of theship-graveyard....however, it is learned that RAdm Za'Kal, a renegade Vulcan SF officer and a man thought to be dead in 2399...now rises to threaten Korin and his crew once more - he now stands  between the 'Star and the portal. Korin orders continued repairs withpreparations for battle, ending the threat of Za'Kal once and for all.  A battle ensues  - and in the ensuing mess, Za'Kal is destroyed by the OMEGANS who withdraw, for the moment, from the fight. The 'Star and Guardian Angel prepare to exit through the portal back into normal space. It's going to be a bumpy ride. The ships exit subspace and make for Qo'Nos for repairs and an overdue meeting with the High Command where after the subspace delay, Korin officially assumes Leigion command. Reviewing (Xeno) Legion Command, Korin is presented with the makeup ofthe Legion, including vessels whose origins represent Gorn, Cardassian,Romulan, Federation, and other minor races.
